Gregory S. Johnson

His Story
Gregg Johnson is one of the founding partners of Johnson and Johnson Physical Therapy. A 1971 graduate of the physical therapy program at University of Southern California (USC). Prior to graduation he was selected to attend a one-year residency under Maggie Knott PT at Kaiser Rehabilitation Center in Vallejo, CA to be trained in the world famous PNF approach. At the completion of the training, he was asked to continue as a staff member and faculty and remained for a total of 7 years. After leaving Kaiser Vallejo, he and Vicky Saliba opened a cash based private practice in Marin County California. This successful practice is believed to be the first physical therapy cash-based clinic in the USA. In 1978, he and Vicky Saliba Johnson developed the Institute of Physical Art (IPA), through which they have trained PT’s worldwide the Functional Manual Therapy® System they developed.
Gregg is world-renowned for his contributions to the Physical Therapy profession in the areas of soft tissue mobilization and vagus nerve treatment, as well as co-founder of the Functional Manual Therapy® system of patient care utilized by over 50,000 therapists worldwide. Gregg brings the highest level of patient management and treatment to the community of Steamboat Springs. When not teaching somewhere in the US, Europe, or Japan, Gregg is doing what he loves most, educating the Fellows at JJPT and treating patients. His philosophy that all human beings have existing potential sets the standard of care at JJPT.

Her Story
Vicky Johnson, the other half of the founding partners of Johnson and Johnson Physical Therapy, is world renowned for her research and work to define the only valid and reliable postural classification system in the medical literature. As co-developer of Functional Manual Therapy®, her life work has been to develop systems or motor learning and exercise that allow all patients to discover the movement potential through better alignment and personalized exercise programs. As co-director of The Institute of Physical and co-developer of the Functional Manual Therapy system of patient care, she has trained over 50,000 therapists world wide. Her passion is posture and her mission is movement!

Her Story
Dr. Vilma Wong received her Clinical Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2006 from Columbia University and completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at St. John’s University graduating with honors.
For over a decade she has been a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedics (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS). In addition, her breadth of coursework includes visceral and neuromeningeal manipulation through the Barral Institute as well as extensive training in Gait Analysis and foot & ankle disorders.
After 16+ years of refining her clinical expertise in manual skills she has achieved Certification in Functional Manual Therapy with honors (CFMT) through the Institute of Physical Art (IPA) in Aug 2021. She believes the quality of physical therapy care based on optimizing movement and function through expert manual skills and patient education can be improved through mentoring and teaching students and clinicians.
Vilma is an avid learner and looks forward to continuing to hone her skills by integrating various approaches including the FMT approach, Barral’s visceral & neuromeningial manipulation, with Stecco’s as well as with the osteopathic approach. She believes each system has its strengths and weaknesses but the convergence of knowledge & expertise along with collaboration with various practitioners will optimize the best care for each individual.

Dr. Matthew Pettersen

His Story
Dr. Matthew Pettersen received his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Hunter College in New York, NY, where he earned the Hunter Certificate of Achievement for Academic Excellence and the Clinical Education Award for Excellence During Clinical Experiences. He has experience treating a variety of orthopedic diagnoses and post-operative cases in the outpatient and hospital setting, ranging from immediately post-op to return to sport. He has undergone extensive manual therapy continuing education through the Institute of Physical Art and is undergoing Functional Manual Therapy Fellowship training. He takes a global approach to treatment to address each patient’s mechanical, neuromuscular, and motor control inefficiencies across the entire kinetic chain, utilizing soft tissue and joint mobilization, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), and postural re-education. He has a passion for learning new techniques and skills to deliver the best care to his patients.

Dr. Becca Mohrbacher

Her Story
Dr. Becca Mohrbacher studied Neuroscience with an Exercise Science minor at Regis University in Denver, CO. She continued on at Regis to complete her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Becca started her career working in outpatient physical therapy in the Denver Metro area. For the past 4 years she has practiced under a CFMT at LoHi Physical Therapy in Denver. Her practice covered patients ranging through the lifespan with pathologies head to toe.
Becca is preparing for her Certification in Functional Manual Therapy (CFMT) which she will test for August 2023. She is also certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling through Myopain Seminars. When working with a patient she takes an in depth history to seek out the root cause of dysfunction while working to address acute pain along the way. Becca includes education about the rehab process in an effort to empower her patients to begin to think critically about their own bodies.
