Dr. Everett Nicolai

Everett Nicolai~2

His Story

Everett graduated from the University of Washington with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2006. After his DPT degree, Everett completed a postgraduate certification in Orthopedic Manual Therapy (OMT) Residency with the Ola Grimsby Institute (OGI) in 2007. He completed the fellowship program with the OGI in 2009, which paved his way to become a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (FAAOMPT). A few years later, he completed a third year in manual therapy with the OGI for him to become an instructor within the Ola Grimsby Institute. Then he pursued mastery in visceral manipulation with the Barral Institute from 2017-2020.

The manual therapy method searches for problematic tissue, such as a disc, muscle, joint, cartilage, nerve, and so forth, and then we focus on healing that tissue because each tissue heals with a different stimulus. Treatments include education on tissue healing, soft tissue work, joint mobilizations and manipulations, and scientific therapeutic exercise progression to promote healing and return patients to their prior level of function.

Everett has taught courses in manual therapy over the years, presented at the national AAOMPT annual conference, and helped numerous physical therapy students meet their goals with a DPT degree, physical therapy residencies or fellowships. He is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA); the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT); Ola Grimsby Institute for Manual Therapy (OGI); and an alumnus in the Barral Institute for Visceral Manipulation.
