My first daughter was born face-up after 4 hours of pushing and an episiotomy. I healed but my pelvic floor was never the same. 19 months later my son was born after 2 1/2 hours of pushing and a 4th degree tear. The recovery was awful and did not heal properly resulting in a fistula that had to be repaired surgically. I could barely sit even after 6 months. When my son was 5 I was still in pain most of the day, even doing simple household chores. I couldn’t use the restroom without needing a shower afterwards. Things with my husband were difficult because everything hurt so bad all of the time. I finally gave up trying to exercise and regain strength on my own. I started working with a PT (not at IPA Physio) and we made some progress but I was still in considerable pain. At this point, I had also had 3 miscarriages and a 31 week still born. My first PT then referred me to IPA Physio where we started working on reducing the pain in my pelvic floor and strengthening my core, and for the first time since the birth of my son, I was finally able to go days without pain.
For the first time in 6 years I was able to do normal activities (and be with my husband) without pain! 10 months later, I have a healthy baby, and I can even breathe easier!
Tangible Steps to Feeling Normal Again!
When the owner of IPA Physio came and reviewed my symptoms, he gave my PT some new areas to work on that truly changed my life. For the first time in 6 years I was able to do normal activities (and be with my husband) without pain! At IPA Physio, we worked on my abdominal muscles and I no longer had painful periods or back pain. And then, miraculously, I found out I was pregnant!
IPA Physio supported the pregnancy and even helped with my breathing problems after having several cases of COVID and suffering from asthma for 20+ years. 10 months later, I have a healthy baby, my pelvic floor pain has not returned to the severity it was at when we started and I can even breathe easier. My healing journey has been a long road and I have more healing to do but with IPA Physio I am sure that one day I will be pain free. They gave me back hope that my body was able to carry a healthy child to term and perform normal activities without pain and I am truly grateful.
